Upgraded to the penthouse suite

We weren't allowed to come into see Dad until about 11am today, the nurses told us it had been a busy night in ICCU and as a result Dad hadn't had much sleep, so we were banned until 11am.

Mum and Suz got there right on time to see Dad. He was doing really well and during the morning had some of his lines/drains taken out. We also met his new nurse Naomi who was looking after him toay. Dad is very keen to avoid catching a cold while in hospital and as a result, Suz has been supporting a nurses mask...!

I came in with Mum in the afternoon, and things got a bit more eventful. As we were chatting away, Dad's arm (where one of the lines had come out that morning) started bleeding. Mum and I closed our eyes and hid from it (we are pretty wimpy when it comes to blood) however the nurses came to his aid very swiftly to stop the bleeding. This could have been an even better story for the blog if it was the other arm; the nurses explained that if it was the other arm, this would have been the atrial artery and would have made things really impressive. They explained if that was the one that leaked it would have spurted out and probably hit the TV... Mum and I would have had no hope from hiding from that!

Shorty after that little incident, Dad was told he was good to go, he was stable enough to head up to the level 5 high dependancy unit. We have nick named the ward "The Penthouse" as we are on the top floor and Dad has a window overlooking the coast, infact we have just watched the sunset.

So Dad has settled in to his new home, he will be in here for about 5 or 6 days before heading back down to the regular wards.

The good news is some technology is allowed in The Penthouse, it's 7pm and Dad has settled in for a movie night on his computer.

Speak to you soon,

Gen x
