GAME DAY!

Hi Everyone,

It's Gen here, we thought we would fill you in on the day so far, it was game day for Dad but it has it has been a bit of a waiting game for us.

We had an early start and left the vineyard at 6am to be at the hospital by 7am, it was eerie because Mia (our dog) picked up on the atmosphere and was reluctant to get in the car... She knew something was up!

Anyway, we finally headed off and got to the hospital right on schedule. Dad signed in and had his final checks, then it was gowning up ready for the big opp.

We were told we were allowed to stay with Dad until he headed into the holding bay. Heading through the holding bay doors was a bit like being at the airport, he went through the glass sliding doors and we all stood there waving and blowing kisses wishing him luck through the screen. He was the first one in the holding bay and it was so empty that we really didn't want to leave him there, so it was extra hard saying goodbye... I think the nurses picked up on this and they were awesome! Just as we turned to leave they called us back over and let Mum go behind the screen and sit with Dad until they wheeled him into surgery. We didn't speak to dad after he went in there, but I know that would have made a massive difference being able to have mum there right until show time!

Once Dad was wheeled to surgery there wasn't anything else we could do for now, so we headed back to the car and back to HQ... Again, Mia knew something was up, she was looking very sad and sooky.

So today we had a girls day, we went out for lunch at Parisis and did a bit of shopping (we bought dad some calming oils and face spray to try and detract from the hospital smells). This afternoon we saw a movie to kill some time and finally we got THE phone call from Proff Watson... Dad was out of surgery and it all went really well! It was such a relief to hear that it was pretty much a text book surgery! AWESOME NEWS!

So we are all pretty pumped right now! We are heading down to the hospital now (5pm) to see dad so I will write another update tonight, and even more tomorrow when we can meet with Dad's surgeon and hear first hand how it all went.
