Journey into the unknown...

Each day has its own course it seems.

Last night we were pretty prepared. Bricks under bed head to elevate it so gravity works at night for me (thanks Brad and James for your muscles). While we were behind time eating, I simply stayed up later and made a massive effort to keep gravity working for me and sat up in bed for the first few hours.

I actually watched some TV! X Factor, Farmer Wants A Wife, followed by Dallas... Some memories there.

Long story short, after staying up late enough, I went out like a light but then was up every few hours attending to pain killers. I thought I was so clever until 4:55am when I had an unexpected reflux event followed by an hour of coughing/spluttering/choking. Not nice, and exhausting. Get this, then all went quite and I woke up with Sylvia's alarm. Weird.

Today was a day of contrast. I had a couple of mates waiting for a call to come over and visit. I didn't get to do it. Again, from feeling really well to reflux, tight chest, short of breath (mainly on our stairs), and sitting in Black Beauty 2 and constantly nodding off to sleep but only for around 5 minutes each time.

Mum appeared with one nap, and before I knew it, it was time to eat again.

Food runs my life right now. My weight seems to be falling off. Let's see what's happened there when I am back at the farm on my benchmarking scales - 71.9kg leaving for hospital.

As far as eating goes, I can't tell how full I am and I think I have taken it to the edge again today. The symptoms of over eating include a really tight chest, and feeling sick. Apparently this all settles down, so we will see.

In hospital I was constantly being asked my level of pain rated between 1 & 10, where 10 is unbearable pain and 1 is very little pain.

Let's apply the same measures against the day. Today followed the weather and varied between say a 2 and an 8 averaging a 5.

The really great news is that I definitely feel as though I am improving each day.

I am so looking forward to tomorrow, to get back to the Vineyard and the open fires and the magic of the Adelaide Hills. I need Sylvia and/or family around while I am getting back up to speed.
