Sylvia here. After leaving Anthony last night I at least got a good night sleep. Slept right through till 7am, up and out, & back at the Hospital by 8:15am. Anthony informed me that he slept an hour at a time (hourly obs when you have a epidural) with his noise cancelling headphones on until in the morning (he was watching the Olympic closing ceremony). It was a concert and there was a lot of noise happening with others in the ward, he plugged them into the Hospital TV, they "blew up."
The first thing he said to me was "did you get my email?" & "did you bring in your headsets?" I didn't, but I quickly made the call to Gen to bring hers in. And all was good again - it was the difference between sleep & no sleep. It must have been another very noisy night.
This morning saw all the medicos visiting. 1st the team from the pain clinic (3 of them), then the dietician, then came Prof Watson with about 10 of his team. All very quick efficient visits with all our questions answered.
Then Dr James Sweeney checked in on Anthony & not long after Alana St John to check all the "lines" that are coming out of Anthony's chest. Very busy morning. I was so exhausted I thought I might go to work for a rest. I tagged teamed with the girls who were driving in as I was going out.
I checked in with all the staff, checked some emails & then with Kerrie a person for our Property Management division.
I will need to check with the girls as to what happened in HDU between 12noon & 5pm, maybe they can update tomorrow. I arrived back at the hospital for the evening shift to see that Anthony had been moved to his own private room. Now he really is in the Penthouse Suite.
He was quite restless, so we got him out of his bed to sit in his very comfortable chair for a couple of hours. We even watched the 1st episode of Big Brother (sort of). Now that was really exciting. Let's hope this isn't going to be a regular nightly occurrence. Now it is on to Underbelly. I think it might be time for me to leave.
I went & got his "sheepie" from the car & will tuck him back into bed with his headphones & eye mask. Let's hope for a better nights sleep.
That's it for tonight. Maybe Gen can take over tomorrow & fill in the gaps from today
Goodnight all,
Sylvia
