Tiny Steps...

Day 2 - Tiny Steps
After a better night kitted out with his noise cancelling headphones, today was a day of " baby steps".
Today we had the nurse help Anthony shave, brush his teeth & later in the day they managed to get him standing & then sitting upright in his luxury chair next to his bed (nothing like black beauty 2, but great to get out of bed). During the night they had to wake Anthony every 2 hours because of the epidural block & to keep track of his blood pressure. "Mission Impossible" was watched on the Mac Air in batches through the night.

A big happy 50th birthday to Glenn today who is celebrating with family at the Lane Vineyard for lunch. A big happy birthday to Tom (Gen's Tom) who is also celebrating his birthday today - a little younger though.

Anthony was wheeled to the Emergency Dept for chest X-rays at 2:30pm. This is to monitor the fluid in his stomach & will be doing this daily for the next few days. We were reminded this afternoon that we are in the "public system" when the chap came around to all the patients in the ward collecting the daily fee for the use of the television. All covered in the fee if you are in Flinders Private he stated.  Small price to pay. The nursing staff here have been amazing & very attentive.
7pm & all the drugs have been topped up ready for the night. I am heading off back to the vineyard now as I have been here since about 9:30 this morning. Leaving him here with laptop & iPad & some DVDs.  No phone though. I will recharge overnight & bring it back to him in the morning.

Will try and see if we can get Tanja to put up a couple of Hospital photos tomorrow.
Have a good night everyone & will update further tomorrow.
Cheers,
Sylvia

  3. Hi Sylvia, We are thinking of you all and sending our love and hugs each day. You have been on Merrilly's thoughts too as they travel through Europe on the final leg of their trip. Thank you for your regular updates we have been quietly traveling the journey with you. Just know that if you need anything we are here. Much love to Anthony & hope he enjoys Mission Impossible - The music alone should have him mastering this illness! Thinking of you Lots of Love Tracy xoxo
