Before we get into this too far, remember all the grammar and spelling will be sorted by Tanja tomorrow hopefully....you'll work it out, and if it is perfect, rest assured Tanja got to it before you saw it.
Hotel Calvary. One thing about Hotel Calvary, it is in a 6-star location, North Adelaide at its best. Views are great of the golf course, walking the streets has been a pleasure, some amazing listing opportunities (income potential) and the Wallis Piccadilly picture theatre are all right here.
To break things up a bit and do something together, Gen, Sylvia and I have just seen Snow White and the Huntsman at the Piccadilly, and now I am back in residence in my North Adelaide abode.
I was hoping to go home today BUT I have registered 37 to 37.8 which are OK but not where we need to be, a bit of a nightmare. I have got my own thermometer this trip.
As I am writing this, my thermometer showed 37.4, hospital 37.8...this is potentially the difference between leaving tomorrow or not. So what do you think we are doing...? Exactly, my awesome nurse Joy is running around trying to locate another thermometer.
My temperature just will not stay down low enough to cut me loose, each day there has been a spike to bugger up the records. Hopefully tomorrow.
Bribery! Definitely, and I've been trying. I have run out of my special Haighs bribery chocs...I have no money in here (Sylvia's purse is nowhere to be found), my body doesn't carry enough currency at the moment, and obviously the charm has been lost in all the drama.
I'm positive. In preparation for check out I have to be able to self administer some stuff that requires me using a needle! You are kidding me!? I can't even look when I have needles. I am such a serious sook, how can I ever do this? The nurse and Doctor just said to get one of the family to do it. Ho, Ho, Ho.
One thing is for sure, Sylvia couldn't, Gen and Suz would both faint, so "if it is to be, it is up to me!"
I took the bull by the horns and had some practices on a mandarin, and then went live. Talk about a week of facing your worst fears...it is now almost a case of bring it on. So I did, and I will again tonight, tomorrow...the next day, and the next and until I don't need to anymore. Those brave kids with diabetes, how good are they, I so now admire the fighters out there in the community.
I said in my final InsideStory until spring that I was off to climb a mountain. Well, I have at least two mountains to climb. This is still my first mountain.
Today was just a peak on the way to reaching my first mountain top. I only hope the summit of this climb is reached tomorrow. I am ready for some downhill cruising.
On the self injecting...Yes...I have pics. Not sure whether to publish them or not. The body sure ain't what it used to be.
In case you are wondering what is holding things up now the treatments are done?
It is for the swelling of my Oesophagus tumour, it now needs to settle down. It has been smashed by 5 weeks of radiation and Chemo - it is not happy. The CT scans show there is currently just the tiniest opening, hence liquids only; the tumour is raw and angry, so it is not happy with anything going over it. This means it goes into spasms. I have hiccups half the day.
Today I am sure we made some good progress. Fingers crossed I have a decent sleep and some healing is able to happen.
Movie, yeah go and see it.
Janine is on Skype, time for some more lessons.
