55 Today...yes!!

Well it has been a fabulous day.

Started up at Battunga (vineyard)...while Sylv was getting all glammed up I was walking the vineyard. Phone was running hot and I was puffing like mad as I walked the hills and didn't miss a breath on the phone. Interesting, the phone didn't cut out at all as I walked even in the normal black out spots...damn, that was always a great feature of the farm.

So Andy and Hells were the first call, and they were coming in from Queensland this afternoon, Andy was so crook he didn't want to give me his bug and so we didn't touch base today in the flesh.

The morning was a perfect winter's day. Frosty ground, clear blue sky and bright sunshine. It was so still that the lakes and dams were like mirrors, and I just had to take some pics with my mobile, so beautiful.

We needed to be in town by around 10.30am, and Sylv and weren't too far off that. I spent the day pretty much keeping up with messages and on the phone. We decided to have a spontaneous gathering with those who called and ended up with a real cross section of friends, family and the team; it was low key and a nice way to spend my 55th birthday. Everyone was gone by 8pm and I was pretty much done by then too.

My sister in law Danuta (Toop) shares a birthday with me and I discovered today that Stelanie Alexander's partner Peter's birthday is today too...so we all shared the cutting of the cake. Bit of fun (Greg Troughton CEO of REISA also has the same birthday...very common, but happy birthday to those guys too).

So a quiet night with a mix of friends, work mates and family, a few drinks, bit of a cake and an early night...

For all the texts, calls, cards and emails, thanks guys. Birthdays are suddenly something I very much cherish!!!  Don't ever let me hear any of you complain about getting old.
