It has been a weekend of eating, drinking and having just finished a roast pork from Simon and Cecelia's wood fire oven, followed by chocolate pudding it tops off a most productive weekend of fattening up.
Last weigh in on Saturday was 69.9 kg, target weight for 10th is 75kg. Somehow I don't think I will make it, but given I may not taste any food for up to six weeks, I have been savouring every tasty mouthful of food, and of course cracking only the best of my cellared wines this week. One small problem, between the Bettridges (our high maintenance friends from Hong Kong), the Raffens, the Elley's and the Berry's. As a consequence, all I really ended up was a sniff of some amazing cellared wines but it was about the conversations and the yarns. Good thing really.
The weekend was relaxed and with plenty of laughs. Good friends who are so not precious, and we really did eat pretty much non stop. The amount of chocolate at the farm is ridiculous and was boosted by Teresa's rocky road and Tony's bags of meat. I have been feeling absolutely full as a goog all weekend, and on top of real food I have been force feeding this green mix that Jacob O'Connell has given me. It is some super food which provides my daily supply of "green" nutrients. between the shakes, the real food and the naturopath pills I feel 100kg at the moment.
Tonight it has been dinner at our favourite dine out, the Berry's....and it needs to be said, Simon Berry (NO NOT THE UNDERTAKER), and Cecelia are the ones who look after our vineyard. All the weird messages on my blog are almost certainly Simon's, he can't use his real name or everyone thinks it is the other Simon touting for business. For the record, the other Simon Berry is also a long standing acquaintence/friend. Cecelia has to be one of the best cooks ever, she would romp home in My Kitchen Rules!!
I am writing tonights blog on Simon's computer as everyone is focussed on the Olympics; we are at their property and home, just a couple of km's from our vineyard.
Tomorrow we drop Bob and Pip off to the airport early, and I have a big week of medical appointments this week. It starts with another endoscopy Tuesday, meetings with the surgeon's medical team including the Anesthetist, CT scans and so on. I also have a busy work week to get Sylv across the line on a few things, including our annual awards night, which is such an important event for us. We have had to slot in as much as possible before the 10th without over doing it.
More exercise, more eating all week and definitely staying away from any crowds.
Just as an aside, my brother Lew called me tonught to let me know he has a serious case of the flu and reiterated the importance of staying away from crowds at the moment. It would seriously impact on my ability to have the operation as planned if I came down with the flu from now on. There is only ever a small window of opportunity to operate after radio and Chemo treatment, so I will be staying well away from crowds until after we get through the next stage.
Back into the week tomorrow... A really fattening weekend and so great to be able to enjoy food again.
We just lost the basketball so time to go... And Power lost mmmmmm. So this weekend is all about the food... Great weekend.
PS. I had the whole crew checking spelling, much debate over "Anesthetist" (Anthony, it's "Anaesthetist" - Tanja).
I'd "DEFINITELY" go for "anaesthetist" - "anesthetist" is the US spelling. Cheers from M&M in France! (Following your blog with great interest and concern - hope you mangage to stay well & put on lots of weight.)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous, how is France??? Thanks for the spelling too...
