On Tour...
Holidays, whooo hoo! Well, a trip to Melbourne and back, but it may as well be a world tour, so awesome to just get away and feel like we are totally in holiday mode.
Right now we are at Halls Gap in the Grampians staying in a place called Aspect Villas 300 metres from the main street and a really cool place. Well done Sylvia, all the research paid off.
This morning before we left I had breakfast with Fish 'n' Chips (Michael Angelakis) - thanks mate, it was great just shooting the breeze. Michael has really been helping me work through things and sharing stories...been one of the great things that can come out of cancer!!!
In the mean time, Sylv was at our weekly sales meeting. I had to pick up some provisions from the pharmacy at Burnside Hospital and we were gone by around 10.30am. I was so excited. One week ago exactly I was just leaving the ICU unit at Hotel Calvary and heading back into the ward. Oh what a difference a week can make in health.
Pain relief, I am dropping it enormously. Down to a half patch and just the one morphine top up so far today, that is seriously fantastic.
We had planned to have a bigger break leaving Sunday and take Gen and Suz with us via Dalysford with a bit of R&R there, but the rules changed when I got so sick and we had to just go with the flow.
The highlight for me today was taking the windy track. We went straight to Horsham and then headed into the Grampians via a sensational drive. Sylv was in the chair of Black Beauty from Keith where we had a very ordinary lunch (very ordinary), and it took some work to get her to hand over. That car is just awesome. We got into some sensational road and did the switch. Wow. First real drive I've had of it.
Get this: V12, twin turbo, 6 litre, all wheel drive and it just loved the workout. Played between different settings on suspension and for a 4 year old car...it does it for me.
We have all the old CD's from about 7 years ago, from my trade in and I forgot to change them over. The music was appalling, we purchased a John Denver DVD at the Keith servo...it was ridiculous, but fun listening to it driving the magic Country roads...we will definitely need more music on board before the girls join us or it will get ugly coming home. Gen and Suz fly over Friday night to join us on the return trip.
We will be home Sunday night...
About to go to a little restaurant, very exciting. I feel almost normal again!!
Melbourne tomorrow...slow late start.
Have a great trip mate and enjoy. I took the astondb9 to Melbourne and let those 12pistons out of there cage on the back roads near Horsham. Great buzz isn't it.
