Tears today...

13/06/12 Wednesday

A great day...quiet and uneventful!

Firstly, apologies for my spelling. Mark L THANK YOU for highlighting that I make you look good.

Agreed, I can not spell for love or money and on the blog, there is no spellcheck, the print is so small that I can hardly read it...my only real option is to somehow outsmart this. Tonight I am typing into 'notes' on my iPad and then will cut and paste. There is absolutely no way I will ever get the spelling right, I am dyslexic and failed English badly at school. Never mind, and Mark, I need you to keep an eye on things for me!

Today I had to cancel a couple of appointments, and took it real steady. Mum is tracking my blog and then physically tracked me down today, worried about my temperature. All ok. Has settled down a little but keeping an eye on it as I am constantly nudging 38 degrees - the trigger to take action. Hopefully I get a decent sleep to sort it.

Radiation is cranking now. Found myself rubbing my chest today. And no, it isn't something I am accustomed to doing!! The cough is constant, but not too bad.

I did have a breakthrough last night. Teresa O dropped off some magical New Zealand honey. 250g Manuka honey certified 15+, produced by Watson and Son. $40.00!!!!!

Teresa is my angel, she just appears, performs some magic, gives me a hug and then is gone. Wouldn't take any $ for the honey, and insisted I try it. Apparently they use this honey to heal horses, not sure what the underlying message is there, but I gave it a go. One teaspoon, swallowed slowly, and like magic, last night I only took one pain bomb for the entire night. Sure, there was still some pain, but not so bad that I couldn't sleep.

The next breakthrough, Jody (my new best friend nurse) gave me some more tips on dealing with the acid burn today. Off the shelf Mylanta antacid. Everyone thought I was already on this and we discovered I wasn't today. I am so excited. Maybe some real sleep tonight.

Had the most amazing card and gift dropped in today. Kathleen F (from Goolwa), you are such a darling, I was blown away.

I have so many people I have to write to and thank, so many cards and letters, texts and emails...today there was another round of them. Reading some of the messages today, I just had tears streaming down my face, not because I was upset, but because I was overwhelmed by the kindness of the words. Rather embarrassing, I am smartening up to things though...I read my messages on my own now!!!

I am absolutely convinced that I am drawing strength from all of you; it has been a really challenging time for this little family, but we feel so privileged to have such a support network. It is humbling, I don't know how I will ever be able to repay you all for all your kindness. Thank you.

As soon as I get a chance, I will start replying to you all, but I just can't promise when, sorry.

That's it for tonight.

Into the Mylanta, and the 15+ Manuka honey, and maybe a pain bomb to get to sleep, who knows, may string some extra hours of sleep together.

PS. Please start rating  my spelling - anyone out there just give me a number....like "15" or whatever the number is...I'll see if I can improve over the journey. Love KPI's.

  1. Hi Anthony, you are most generous but we all appreciate you letting us know how you are on your blog so we dont have to bother you or Sylvia.
We dont need thanks or even a mention - you have been a good friend for 30 years now and you are getting back a little of what you have done for all the charity work etc I think there was a movie about"paying it forward"! Thank God you dont spell perfectly - you would then be JUST TOO GOOD at everything! Love to you & your girls T & Tx
