Plenty of pain as we missed the plane...

It's Monday, 13 days from ground zero, and it all seems so removed from reality. I've worked it out though. I feel great, and of course look great(!!!!) but very soon the inevitability of the pain that is to come will become a reality.

There was plenty of pain today knowing that our seats on the big jet plane to Europe were taken by someone else, thank goodness it has gone...get over it, time to focus on the new week of learning.

I have started this week with a goal to become educated with what is about to unfold for me. I want to understand the pain, the challenges and the feelings that will be my journey from here on. Reports are now coming in of other friends and acquaintances who have had or have the same issues.

The day started with a call from my dearest old mates Dad, Keith Treloar. Andy had told me that Keith had exactly the same operation 2.5 years ago. Anyway Keith filled me in on some detail of the opperation, of the Chemo & Radiation treatments and gave me a good feel for how all this looked...ummmm! You don't wanna know. Anyway, he is all good and explains how the alternative is a hell of a lot worse.

I also did some recording with Toop.TV guys today, and coincidently also with "South Aussie with Cossie" later tonight. I figured I look about as good as I will for a while at the moment so timing was good on both counts.

Caught up with Pete Paschke GP again tonight, more delving questions and starting to really get up to speed on all this and getting prepared for the next phase.

I know this seems like a lot of whaa but I seriously have never had so many beautiful and supportive emails and phone calls and messages EVER...if you want your ego stroked, try cancer. Seriously, all that stuff while a bit scary does create an amazing lift and sense of purpose.

We actually had a Toop&Toop board meeting today, which I attended...happy to report business is tracking well now. Lots of new stuff in the pipeline that will now roll out over the rest of the year. I think the crew are happy I am out of it for a while to catch up a bit. Tough yet very exciting on the business front. I will get out of the way now and let the team get on with the roll out. New technologies, new software, new Toop products, there is seriously so much happening and I will be watching from the side lines for a few months.

Suzannah sorted things in Sydney today, her bosses were outstanding, full marks to AMP Capital, if you guys read this, you are to be commended, thank you from me! Suzannah can come home for the rest of the year and return in January. I am rapt to have all the family around for a while as we deal with this little diversion.

This week is more appointments with specialists, full on research and body preparation ready to take the hit the following week as we start the cancer killing process (assuming of course someone hasn't convinced me of an alternative treatment, there sure are plenty belief systems out there).

Lots to do...keep smiling, and make every day count.

    Your best weapon is knowledge
then you throw everything at it

    ignorance is bliss
and you are not the same as anyone else

    1. Hi Teresa, ignorance for sure. I am shitting myself knowing what is coming! The reason I want to know more is to get my head around it

  2. Hi Anthony,

I think it is a great idea for you to do this blog. This will assist you in dealing with this, and your ultimate healing. I really have found it extremely hard when people have told me that everything that happens to you is for a reason and you will grow through this. Well...they were right. I didn't like it at the time, and I can't start to imagine how you are feeling at the moment. However, this is for a reason, and I have no doubt that you will get through this, and become an even stronger person, and so will the people in your life. Everything does happen for a reason. Take care Mr Toop, and I look forward to your blogs. Please know that I am here for you, as I am sure a lot of people are, and we are all here to support you. Sheryl xxx

  3. Hi Toopy
Your blog is great. No doubt about you, whatever you do, you do with style. You are creative, positive and inspirational in everything; even when dealing with a life threatening illness.
And don't forget, as some little known musicians once meant to say "(you'll)get by with a little help from your friends (and family)."

  5. Heeeyy Toopy! Thanks for the blog. It is so 'you' to be generous and share.
Thanks for the blog? I'm thinking why 'thanks'? I guess it's because it hurts thinking about you and it helps a lot to know how you feel.

But it's not about me! I dread the thought of the pain you have ahead of you. Of course you’ve already figured your loved ones have a lot of pain ahead too - and in your case, 'loved ones' means a bloody great big mob! It hurts thinking about you - but with the pain comes the gain!

The funny thing is that, despite the success, the whaa and the hype, you've always been just one of the guys - amazingly loyal and generous to your mates. And even at a time like this when us mortals would run away and hide, you go flat out at this cancer thing and prove what we all know - you are not like us at all. You are awesome Ace Toop!
